While we don’t have an official release date yet, Netflix’s adaption of Avatar: the Last Airbender is set to hit the streaming service in 2024. With the first season expected to have around 8 episodes, Netflix intends to present us with a darker live-action reimagining of the beloved animated series.

We’ve had a few sneak peaks in the last few months. From the initial promotional image depicting Aang and Appa to the 53-second video showing off the symbols of the four nation, today we are given our first official look at the series main characters as well as the antagonists.

After the immense disappointment of M. Night Shyamalans The Last Airbender (2010) that fans have officially renounced from the canon, Netflix’s line up looks promising. Not only does it look promising but, considerably faithful to the source material. With many fans having mixed feelings about the show after creators Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko departure from the shows development, the series is at least able to boast an admirable cast.
