Announced earlier today via Instagram and Variety, Micheal Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko return to the Avatar: the Last Airbender universe with an all-new animated series, Avatar: Seven Havens. The announcement comes with the tagline:

Avatar: Seven Havens is set in a world shattered by a devastating cataclysm. A young Earthbender discovers she’s the new Avatar after Korra– but in this dangerous era, that title marks her as humanity’s destroyer, not its saviour.

Hunted by both human and spirit enemies, she and her long-lost twin myst uncover their mysterious origins and save the Seven Havens before civilisation’s last strongholds collapse.

This announcement comes as we approach the 20th anniversary of Aang’s original journey to defeat Firelord Ozai. This marks the third animated series in the Avatar universe. There is also an animated feature film due to premiere in theatres in early 2026.

Avatar: Seven Havens already seems to follow in the footsteps of its predecessors by challenging familiar tropes in fantasy storytelling, promising a twist of the chosen one storyline that, while the creators have toyed with, has not been explored to this extent. The series is set to consist of 26 episodes spanning two seasons.
